BREAKING LANGUAGE BARRIERS

ineardevice

Personally, I am a fan of this invention. Meet Indiegogo’s in ear device that automatically translates a foreign language to yours in real-time. Most of us have probably been in a situation where it was difficult to communicate with a foreigner because of the language barrier. It isn’t impossible to communicate without speaking but it does make it a bit easier when you both speak the language. More and more people immigrate to a foreign country even for a few months or the rest of their lives. Learning a foreign language in a short amount of time isn’t easy for everybody and that’s where Indiegogo’s ear piece comes in handy.

Plug one ear piece in your ear and give the other one to the person you’re talking to. Open the app that comes with the ear piece, select the language you’re speaking yourself, the person wearing the other ear piece does the same. Now you can start talking in your own language and the ear piece will translate it for you right away.

A product with lots of future growth potential I’d say. This ear piece allows people, the society, to become more social and to start a conversation with foreigners a lot easier. It has a big influence on globalization because it brakes the language barriers between foreign countries. New friendships, job opportunities etc. are possible and allows people to live in a foreign country with more confidence, improving the quality of life.

THE FUTURE OF MOOD-ALTERING TECHNOLOGY

Technology

‘We believe that digital content and technology products are made better when they are informed by human emotions.’ I quote Affectiva, a company that started using human emotions to create better technological products. The future of mood-altering technology is here and it is evolving quickly. Big companies and brands are massively experimenting with this development because it could be a complete breakthrough for advertising and marketing.

This could be used for example to give food recommendations, suggesting chocolate to cheer you up or a banana to give you energy. Next time you walk past a billboard, pay a little more attention because maybe it will transform into a more cheerful advertisement using brighter colours. This could be reacting in reality to your facial expression.

What happens is that brands use human face expressions, recognition and emotions, for example real life emojis, just wink to your phone’s front camera or blow a kiss and the emoji will appear in your conversation. David Hedberg exhibited Smile TV, a television that switches on only when you smile; to watch a full episode of your favourite show, you must maintain a grin. Designer Talia Radford has created a camera that is activated by a kiss; turning emotion into an interface, and making the “likes” on Instagram and Facebook far more literal.

Developers think digital content and technological products will be better when we use this development. Human beings express there feelings all the time in many different ways and some people are scared to become slaves of the technology because it evolves so quickly. Therefor it has future growth potential and this might be the next generation of wearable technology.

News: INTERACTIVE FASHION

The following post is written on January 28th, 2014. I wrote this with a fellow student for our website Trendpit.nl .

Experience is getting more and more important for the visitors of the fashion weeks.  Interaction is something everyone is seeking for. Unfortunately most of the time it doesn’t go further than just watching the shows. During Amsterdam Fashion week we experienced more interaction by several fashion designers.

In spite of all the negative attention about the fashion bloggers, Tommy Hilfiger decides to do it a different way. Tommy Hilfiger organized the first runway INSTA.MEET during his show at New york fashion week. He invited 20 local New York Instagrammers to record his show. This is the perfect occasion to share your tips and tricks about Instagram.  “The initiative is a creative and relevant way to make viewing the show and participating in fashion a more democratic experience for fans.”
This is a way to involve ordinary visitors in the fashion show. It gives them the feeling that they are a part of the whole show. It happens more often. Even in our own country. During the ARTEZ fashion show 2014, visitors where invited to meet the collection. They had the change to feel the fabric with their own hands and smell the special fragrance that defines the smell of FASHION, made by perfume expert Tanja Deurloo. The fact that the visitor could really be with the collection made sure that every one experienced it more intensely.

Interaction played a very big role in the Downtown event of Matijs van Bergen and Borre Akkersdijk. Borre Akkersdijk gave a workshop before the event of Mattijs van Bergen began. Visitors had the chance to co-operate with Borre to be a part of his new collection. Mattijs placed six of his models next to six paintings of Van Gogh. You could clearly see Mattijs’s inspirational source. Because of the fact that you could be so close to the models and almost touch his designs, you could experience the Mattijs’s creativity.

Creating different ways of energy sources

Hello world,

Solar energy, wind energy, a hand-woven bamboo water collector, these are all nature friendly ways to get your energy or catch your water. I think most of us are familiar with solar energy etc. This development has been going on for a while now, but the different signals I found are creative ways to produce this nature friendly energy. Signals with a cool factor. With all these developments we are able to improve our precious earth and keep her healthy.

This coolhunt down here is an example from what I found.

 What is it?
The Living wall is a sustainable sound barrier wall, placed along the side of a highway. But it’s not a regular one, people are able to live inside The Living Wall. This project is from NarrativA architects. The sound barrier protects the surrounding residential areas against noise pollution. But The Living Wall purifies the air polluted by road users and other bad influences.

The Living Wall

The Living Wall

Why it is cool?
I believe this is a really cool initiative because we can start using the boring and ugly sound barriers in a new creative way, which helps us, improve the environment as well. Students or other people are able to live in the sound barrier and you won’t even have noise pollution. Plus, the sound barrier impels the energy for the houses inside.

Why does it have future growth potential?
The Living Wall creates a new place to live in. Another important thing is the fact that it uses solar energy to impel energy and The Living Wall purifies the air in- and outside. These are all environmental friendly ways to improve mother earth. It’s sustainable and clean, just what we need in the future.

Quality of Life
In our future world, people love helping out Mother Nature. This has impact on our physical wellbeing because our health will improve if we better the world’s environment. It has also impact on development and activity. People are thinking more about maintaining their solar peddles for example instead of heating their home with unhealthy gasses.

Sign language rings to help with communication

Hi everybody,

I found something really interesting that I want to share with you. The Sign language ring! Keep reading if you want to know what I’m talking about.

What is it?
The Sign language ring helps deaf people to communicate better with others. The Sign language ring contains a bracelet and a set of rings, the rings should be worn on different fingers. The rings (these are connected with the bracelet) detects the sign language and the bracelet translates these motions to voice or into text that appears on the bracelet. With this product it’s possible for deaf people to communicate easier with everybody. It’s also possible to pre-record movements.

Sign language rings

Sign language rings

Why is it cool?
I think this is really cool because it will help a lot of deaf people to communicate with good hearing people. There will be less misunderstandings and it’s really easy to use. With the Sign language ring deaf people can easily talk to others who are not familiar with sign language. Sign language ring is designed in a way that the rings fit into the bracelet after use.

Why does it have future growth potential?
This product definitely has future growth potential because (like I said before) it helps people with communication and it makes a great gesture. It won the Reddot design award 2013. There will always be deaf people on our planet so this product can keep developing and growing in the future. It’s easy to use and easy to take with you.

Move for the music

Hello readers,

I’ve been to Brightday yesterday, in Amsterdam. It was smaller than I expected but it was fun. I’ve seen many different new technology like a 3D printer and I played with the xbox one with kinect. But there was one thing that stood out for me and I found it pretty cool. It’s a design called Experio designed by students from the Technical University Eindhoven.

What is it?
I quote “Experio is an interactive installation where people can use sensory laser light as a musical instrument”. Depending on how many people dance in de laser light different beats will arise and the faster people dance, the faster the music will go. The moderator in the middle of the platform mixes all the beats and sounds that the dancing people are creating into a song.

Move it!

Move it!

Why is it cool?
The people on the dance floor are responsible for the music, because you have to dance for the music. It’s a fun way to bring people together. People are entertaining each other and themselves as well. People are challenged  to start dancing. It’s a whole new experience, I experienced it myself at Brightday and it was really cool.

Why does it have future growth potential?
Experio is a new way of entertaining people and people are challenged to interact with each other and with the dance floor to create music together. You and all the people around you are responsible for the music, so maybe the non dancers will start moving their feet as well!

I hope Experio will be introduced to clubs and events so we can all enjoy ourselves with a little dance.

Google glass is a new gadget where you can experience a lot of cool things with. These glasses are like a smartphone but than on your nose. There are many possibilities, you can easily send messages and e-mails to your friends while it appears in your view. The Google glasses work with voice recognition so you just have to say “send a message”. Easy right? You can ask about the weather or information about a building for example. It’s also possible to make a call, live stream, play music and so much more. Google glass contains a camera, a touch pad on the side, gyroscopes, a compass, different radio’s and microphones, a USB charger port and a little speaker. Google glass continues to develop.

Google Glass

Why is it cool?
Google glass is like a computer that you put on your nose. Without holding anything and just asking one question, a world opens up to you with all the possibilities (I wrote in the beginning) and also all the information that you need. And the cool thing is that it appears in your glasses right in front of you! The design is extremely light and you can use your Google glass while the sun is shining bright as well.

Why does it have future growth potential?
Everybody can use these glasses, because of all the possibilities it has. There is information for everybody and it’s really easy to use. You will keep experiencing new things with the Google glass. Because it keeps developing the product will be capable of more things in the future and it will last for a long time.

Remember your dreams with the SHADOW app

Hello everybody,

Do you recognize that feeling when you wake up and you had a really special dream? But a just a tiny moment later you’re already forgotten that dream. 95% of the dreams that we have, we forget after a couple minutes. Not anymore, with the SHADOW app it will be possible to remember them. How? Keep reading!

What is it?
Hunter Lee Soik and Jason Carvalho have created the SHADOW app. This app is launched on the 17th of september 2013. The Shadow app is an alarm clock. This alarm clock will gradually wake you up. (How nice?) Immediately after you wake up you will speak or type where you dreamed about or you will start answering questions about it. After a while patterns emerge. The dreams will be saved in a database and everything will be organized so major themes and trends can be identified. You can decide whether you want to share your dreams with the world or to keep them to yourself. Shadow also investigates your sleep rhythm.

SHADOW APP

SHADOW APP

Why is it cool?
With this app you will remember your dreams, of course only the dreams you want to remember. When your dream patterns emerge, questions will be answered and you will know why you’re dreaming about all those things. The differences between cultures and generations emerge as well, that’s very interesting! Together we are able to build a global web of dreams.

But!
Before they can realize this app, we need to donate money so this app can be introduced on the market. So if you want to read more about the cool SHADOW app on their website, or if you want to donate money to them, make sure you click these links: Realize the SHADOW app and discover!

3D printed fashion and more

Hello world,

Wouldn’t it be amazing to design your own clothes on your own computer, just print it and you can wear it! Several fashion designers are already working with the 3D printer, it’s becoming more and more popular in fashion land. It may be possible for ourselves in the future. Interesting right?

3D printed bikini!

3D printed bikini!

What is it?
The 3D printer for fashion is a new revolutionary technology. A printer that can print accessories, hats, jewelry and clothing in 3D. The first time 3D printed fashion was introduced to the world, was at the Amsterdam International Fashion week in 2010. The 3D printer isn’t only for fashion, but for food, design and architecture etc. as well. Firstly, you will need an idea, concept or design made with computer aided design or animation modeling software on your computer, a shoe or a dress for example. It’s your choice what kind of material you want to use, but it depends on your 3D printer. Depending on the size of your design and what material it’s made of, it will take a couple hours and sometimes a couple days before it’s finished. Your design will be printed layer on top of a layer.

Check out this video:

Why is it cool?
This 3D printer is cool because people can create and design literally everything they want with it on their computer. So designers don’t need to spend hours and hours behind their sewing machine anymore, just to finish of their collection. It’s effective and super modern! The 3D printer has future growth potential because more and more people will have access to it in the future. This revolutionary technology continuos to develop itself.
